On our way...

In only one week we'll be on the road and headed to Alaska. Our house sold in two weeks, and we got a full price offer, so we're happy and kind of surprised! Tony's last day of work was 5/1. It's amazing. So many people say that they're envious of what we're doing. I know it will be such a huge change. I am both excited and nervous. Often I think how big of a decision this is for Thor and Anna. How differently they will grow up rather than if we would stay here. I really do think that being raised in Homer and being raised in Seattle are two very different things. They create different people. Not good or bad, necessarily, but just different. Tony and I are both happy that our kids will grow up similarly to the way we did.

Thor is exactly 2 1/2 years old. He is potty learned, except for at night. He did it all by himself, with very little prompting from us. One day he just started going in his potty. About a month later he refuses to wear diapers during the day and goes either outside or in his potty. He also goes in public toilets if I ask him to. It's great!! Nice to not have to resort to bribes, either. Thor also seems to be growing into such a little boy. He says the most hilarious things sometimes. A couple mornings ago we were outside in the front yard and I saw him looking at the tulips and he said, "Good morning tulips. Are you cold, tulips? Would you like some hot chocolate, tulips?" :) So cute. He's normally a delight to be around but definitely has his 2 1/2 year old moments where he gets very emotional, crabby, and sometimes still is not nice to Anna. I'm pretty sure that's because of jealousy.

Anna is 10 1/2 months and is walking for real now. She started really trying at about 9 1/2-10 months, but now she really never crawls. She falls a lot, and walks like a drunken sailor, but still, it's walking! Lately she has been VERY fussy. For the past two weeks or so... very clingy, very needy, often whining & crabby! I'm not sure why this is. For her first 9 months she was so laid-back and almost never fussy. Weird! I wonder if she might be getting her 1 year old molars already... Maybe it's just seperation anxiety from learning how to walk, too. She definitely knows what she wants, though. Like if the door is open to outside she immediately wants to go outside, and if we shut it she completely breaks apart. Sobs, screams. She also seems to say MA MA. At night if she wants to nurse I hear this "Mam mam ma ma!!" :) She likes very little solid foods. Just like Thor! She really doesn't want to eat anything and just wants to nurse. Fine, though, just fine. Some people delay solids for a year -- it is shown to really reduce allergies.

Well, we'll be on the road soon. Driving for several hours every day. Hopefully all goes well. Thor loves to drive, so he should be fine. Anna, not so much!!
