Almost 14 Months

Well, you're out napping on the couch right now...

In a week you'll be 14 months old. New things you've been doing:

-- Making all sorts of new sounds, and jabbering constantly. Still no discernable words, except maybe Mama and Dada. But you make every sound out there, it seems, including "sssshhhh" "atz," what sounds like, "ice" and "dza."

-- You are fascinated with getting things to work. I mean, things you can manipulate with your hands, like tongs, buttons, switches, kitchen utensils, and tools. Your motor skills, both fine and large, are very advanced.

-- You still want to climb everything, and have now mastered going down slides. You go backwards, forwards, on your tummy, and sitting. You also just started pushing toys down your slide. You love to watch them go.

-- You definitely understand when things are taken away from you and hidden, and will look for them. So you understand the concept of object permanence very well!

-- You will now sleep for up to 5 hours in your bed alone, which is great. You seem to be having a break in teething, which causes you to wake up a lot, and cry. But the last several days you've slept much better and last night slept most of the night in your bed. You still have 14 teeth left to go, though, and most are molars, so I'm not holding my breath!

-- You have the top four teeth, bottom four, your four first molars, and the bottom two canines.

-- You really seem to be liking daycare and Caleb's house a lot. At daycare the other day I got there to pick you up and you were playing and flirting with Ella, one of the women there. They all just love you so much, and you play there almost constantly, and nap, too!

-- You're going to have a new baby brother or sister in June next year. You've changed the way you nurse since we found this out, and sometimes want to more, sometimes less. But overall you nurse MUCH less in the past month, and eat almost everything.

-- Lately you've been a great eater. Last night you ate everything we ate, including halibut from grandpa, rice, peas. You also ate lots of Chinese food the other night. You like food with flavor!

It's turning cold and rainy here so we don't go outside as much, but today we went to the playground and you had a good time. I have lots of time off this month and next, so we'll get to go more, too.
